I don’t get many days off as I work usually 40-48 hours per week and the days I usually get off are just a resting day, preparing my mind and body from working days to nights, it can get a bit much.
I’ve started to tell myself that each month I will now book off at least two days, where I can relax and remove myself from London and the constant cycle I’m finding myself stuck in.
My two days off were the only sunny days we have seemed to have over the past month of June so far so I thought it would be a good idea to run away to Brighton with my boyfriend where there is a beach (kind of) and the fresh sea air with lots of sea food I can pick at all day long. The day started off so gloomy but as soon as we got to the pier, the sun was shining and everyone was out taking in the sea breeze as much as they could before the rain came.

What To Do
We could have walked around and seen everything there was to see in Brighton, but I’ve already done that and I wasn’t in the right mind set to be galavanting around the place.
Theres a lot of old vintage shops as you walk into Brighton on the way from the station. I recommend popping in these shops as there’s a lot to find. We got some old pictures, one I now keep in my wallet as it’s a calm image by the sea along with some old books and knick knacks to have around the flat.
As you go into Brighton, there’s of course the lanes which is filled with boutique shops, cafe’s and old pubs. It tends to get busy around here but there’s some great places to check out. The main attraction however to Brighton is of course that pebbled beach. It’s probably my favourite part of Brighton, everything seemed so tranquil and due to it only being a wednesday, it was quiet and you could actually hear the waves rather than screaming children. So we lay there for a while.

Where To Eat
On the beachfront there’s some stalls that sell fresh shellfish, the anchovies soaked in vinegar are amazing. They have a range of pots including crayfish, octopus, squid and crab. You can get a mixture or just pick one. They’ll only be open when it’s worth their while and busy or sunny outside so you have to go on the right day!
There’s a fish and chips shop nearby here called Carousels, it’s busy and there’s nothing special to report about the exterior but any fish and chip shop right next to the beachfront is always the best gamble. The fish is large, the chips are many and just shove some salt and vinegar on it then you’re good to go.
Of course there may be some exciting new restaurants opening but as someone that lives in London, coming to Brighton is a treat so to do all the expected activities is what goes down a treat.
