I’d be lying if I said Winter is my favourite Season. The dark mornings and wet weather I’ve never enjoyed, and it’s safe to say I can’t imagine many others enjoy it either.
In London, there is a huge change in the atmosphere when the Summer nights end and the cold breeze starts to come in. People become more miserable and the streets seem to become more of a ghost town. I walk around Brick Lane in the Summer and it’s packed with action and happiness, there’s a good vibe all around Shoreditch. There’s people in the park carrying flowers from Columbia Road Market and tinnies in the other hand.
But in the Winter… No one wants to communicate with one another, people become depressed just because of the Weather and this is something I’ve noticed more in London than anywhere else. I’ve told myself instead of becoming like everyone else, to pull away and start embracing each Season starting with this post about my favourite things in Winter and what I enjoy about this cold and wet Season.
- Walks.
– This is due to the nostalgic feeling. My parents live in the countryside, my Father and I when I was 4 onwards use to walk every Saturday through the fields to the stable. It was also tradition to walk Christmas Eve at midnight when the frost was glittery and our village was at its quietest. - Winter Clothes.
– My style doesn’t tend to suit the Summer months as I wear a lot of darker colours so the Winter Months is when I can wear what I really love. Fluffy Jumpers and comfy denim is what I tend to wear most days. I tend to get most of my jumpers from either Monki, Cheap Monday or H&M. - Make-Up.
– Much like my clothing style, I’m a pale person and can’t seem to tan very well so I mingle better in the Winter and don’t stick out like a sore thumb. I’ve really got into eye shadow this Winter and my everyday eyeshadow is from MUA’s pallete. Plums and golds seem to suit my skin and coppery hair best. - Candles/General cosy feels.
– Candles have become a fad recently I’ve realised with most bloggers but it is true that certain candles that suit the certain months do make a difference. In the Summer we like fresh smells and in the winter we like those musky and spicey scents. I usually buy “Warm Gingerbread” from InSpitalfields or one of Muji’s candles which do burn quite quickly but the scents they have a wonderful. - Hot Chocolate.
– It’s that time of year where we enjoy indulging in luxurious hot chocolates with marshmallows, whipped cream and any other fatty thing we can add to it. I went to Whittards in November and they were doing samples of this Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and I’ve never been the same since. I highly recommend it!
